die platten meines servers werden 1x/woche einem smart extended test unterzogen. beim letzten test gab es einen read failure:

den pending sector habe ich schon länger. wie soll ich jetzt weiter verfahren?
daumenregel ist ja, eine platte nach einem smart fail so schnell wie möglich auszutauschen. ist das in meinem fall notwendig?

Ich würde die Platte mit dem Hersteller Tool testen und wenn das Fehler sagt, tauschen, ansonsten in Ordnung.

Das WD Tool ist nur für Windows oder eben für DOS verfügbar...

Einfach einen DOS bootable USB Stick oder, falls du noch ein geeignetes LW hast :D :p, bootable Floppy Disk erstellen und das Tool in einem Ordner unzippen...

Booten, ausführen, testen...

naja nicht ganz. ich habe einige (extended) smart tests gemacht, die alle ohne probleme gelaufen sind, bis ich vorgestern 2 emails von meinem server bekommen habe:

ich habe danach noch 2 extended smart tests gemacht, beide ohne fehler.

derzeit läuft auch der check mit der western digital software. quick test hat kein problem gemeldet, extended test läuft gerade (ca 5h noch).

ist ein offline uncorrectable sector ein rma- grund?

rma wegen 1 unreadable sector, obwohl der test sagt kein fehler und auch smart sagt es passt alles?
