Review @ TheTechLoungeDuring our testing, I was only able to push an overclock of 5 MHz, up to 255 MHz (DDR510). While a 2% increase in clock speed isn’t much, PC4000 has pretty much hit the limit and much more can’t be expected.
Crucial’s PC4000 is definitely worth looking into if you are running a P4 on a decent motherboard. Going from 2.4 GHz to 3.0 GHz, while maintaining a 1:1 ratio and a 1+ GHz front-side-bus, is justification enough. While Intel systems will most definitely benefit from this memory, AMD users should look towards memory with lower speeds and more aggressive timings such as Crucial Ballistix PC3200, which has timings of 2-2-2-5.
At $77.99 for a 256 MB stick of Ballistix PC4000, Crucial’s high-performance memory is very competitively priced. Let’s not forget that Crucial is ranked the highest for customer service. What else is there to say about this high quality, high performance, competitively priced memory with top-notch technical support? If you are a performance enthusiast looking to get the most out of your Intel system, I would undoubtedly have to recommend this memory to you.
