Review @ ThinkComputers.orgOk, for overclocking, first thing is that I got up to 1066Mhz or PC2-8500 speeds very easily with no voltage bump at all. I did have to bump it up to 2.3v for any higher, I reached 278 FSB for the final Overclock up from the 266Mhz for PC2-8500 speeds. I believe I could have possibly gotten more had I used a different CPU cooling system, but I believe the heat was holding me back from stability.
Also I ran at the stock timings of 3-3-3-12 even at the 800Mhz or PC2-6400 speeds, which is nice indeed. Running the lower latencies is something everyone wants to see.
Crucial again shows us that they still know how to make some kick butt ram! Overclocking from the PC2-5300 up to the PC2-6400 level is one thing but easily hitting the PC2-8500 mark at stock voltage is excellent. The scores of the benches also tell us that Crucial is easily the best overall. I can recommend this to anyone looking for some high performance, high quality ram. ThinkComputers gives the Crucial Ballistix DDR2-5300 2GB Kit a 10 out of 10 and our Recommended Award!
