Multi-GPU Hotfix für Windows Vista ist verfügbar

Wer unter Windows Vista ein SLI- oder Crossfire-Setup betreibt und dabei trotz dieser Multi-GPU-Konfiguration über eine schlechte Performance klagt, dem kommt Microsoft nun mit einem Hotfix zu Hilfe. Dieser soll ein Latenzproblem beheben und so die Leistung auf manchen Systemen verbessern. Microsoft mahnt allerdings zur Vorsicht und bietet den Hotfix deshalb nicht als freien Download an. Stattdessen muss dieser über eine spezielle Seite angefordert werden.

A graphics processing unit (GPU) or part of a GPU link may incur a small scheduling latency on a new Direct Memory Access (DMA) packet. This is true if the DMA packet is submitted to the GPU that has previously run out of work and if another GPU in the linked configuration is very busy. In some scenarios, significant starvation of one or more GPUs in the linked configuration reduces the expected performance of an application.
