Review @ OcPrices HardwareThe cards we are looking at today are the Hercules 9800 Pro, the Crucial 9800 Pro, the Sapphire 9800 Pro with 256MB DDR, the HIS 9800 “IceQ” 9800 Pro, the ATi reference 9800 Pro with 256MB DDR and finally the All in wonder 9800 Pro, again from HIS. The key to this shootout will be differentiation, and of course price.

Several days of solid benchmarking later we are finally able to come to some conclusions about the 9800 Pro cards in the test. In terms of all out best stock performance you won't do better than a 256MB Radeon 9800 Pro based card, this being reinforced by yet more image quality cheating by nvidia to keep up when DX9.0 shaders are used. However the best case we saw in real benchmarks was a 3% increase in speed versus the £100 cheaper 128MB cards, all of which overclock to 256MB edition speeds without any issue whatsoever. You simply don't need 256MBs of memory on a graphics card yet.
