Oracle stellt seit kurzem ihre neue Express-Variante als Beta zum Download zur Verfügung.

Limitations:
1. Express Edition is limited to a single instance on any server;
2. Express Edition may be installed on a multiple CPU server, but may only be executed on one processor in any server;
3. Express Edition may only be used to support up to 11 GB of user data (not including Express Edition system data);
4. Express Edition may use up to 1 GB RAM of available memory.

vorerst nur für Windows 32bit und Linux 64bit

Sollte nicht vergessen werden. Die Liste was man darf ist viel kürzer wie jene was man nicht darf. :)

Für Spielzeugdatenbanken unter 11 GB nehm ich doch gleich SQLite. :p

... und die maximal-1GB-RAM-Beschraenkung haben sie geruechteweise deshalb eingefuehrt, damit auf diesen lahmarschigen 96GB-RAM-Kisten auch ja noch genug Speicher fuer den zugehoerigen Applikationsserver-Unterbau (eigentlich dessen JRE) uebrigbleibt. :D
