Speeding up your computer...

This is a short guide that will walk you through a couple steps that will help speed up your computer.

1. Startup Processes

* Go to: Start>Run>Type "msconfig"(without the quotes)
* Go to the Startup Tab
* Uncheck any processes you don't use at startup(e.x. Quicktime, AIM, MSN)
* Click Apply then Restart

2. CCleaner
CCleaner is a great little application that deletes cookies, clears cache, empties your recycle bin, etc.

* Download CCleaner(from google)
* Iinstall CCleaner then Run Cleaner it(note: This will clear your cookies which means your saved passwords and usernames will be gone)
* Go to the Registry tab and Scan for Issues
{*]After its finished scanning click>Fix selected issues...>Fix All Selected Issues>Ok. Continue this process until scanning brings about no issues.

3. Bootvis.exe

* Download bootvis.exe(from google)
* Install bootvis.exe
* In the toolbar go to Trace>Optimize System. The system will reboot after 10 seconds.

Forget msconfig if you really mean it. Use Autoruns instead. By the way, avoid disabling services with msconfig.

an autoruns stört mich das man nach einem neustart nicht mehr sieht welche autostartprogramme man deaktiviert hat da sie nicht mehr angezeigt werden
bei msconfig werdens das noch, noch dazu ist es rein für das übersichtlicher

Merkwürdig. Ich sehe bei mir alles. Die deaktivierten Einträge haben einfach kein Hakerl mehr.

use ccleaner in combination with microsoft regclean

btw. a real speedup can only be achieved by turning off services/getting rid of unneccesary autorun entrys. i never experienced any speedup when using registry cleanup bootvis or defrag programs.
impact on system performance almost zero...

hm, vielleicht liegts daran da ich mit msconfig deaktiviert hab

Autoruns und msconfig sind nicht kompatibel, AFAIK. Autoruns entfernt die Einträge und legt irgendwo ein Backup an, während msconfig einfach nur ein - vor den Eintrag macht. Oder so ähnlich halt.

k, dann hab ich zumindest die erklärung

grundsätzlich find ich es aber falsch msconfig zu verteufeln, denn das hast auf jedem system automatisch oben (außer win2k) und kannst somit sofort die paar einträge austragen
noch dazu ist es auch für laien einfach zu bedienen
