Bei Red hat wird "die Distribution seit Jahren ohne NTFS unterstützung aausgeliefert"
Man kann angeblich den Kernel neu kompilieren oder eine Installation eines vorkompilierten Kernel Pakets das alle Module enthält durchführen.

Was ist sinnvoll, woher bekomme ich was und wie mache ich das???

Selber compilieren, gibt dazu ein HOWTO auf jedem linuxdoc mirror.
