Für alle, die´s noch nicht kennen - So wie unten beschrieben kann man die von XP reservierte Bandbreite (20%) freimachen und seine Verbindung beschleunigen !

Increase available bandwidth for network connections

This will help increase your bandwidth for any network connection in Windows XP PRO.
1. Make sure your logged on as actually "Administrator". do not log on with any account that just has administrator privileges.
To log in as an administrator:
-click on start->logoff->logoff
-in the logon screen hold Ctrl+Alt+Del.
-in the user field type 'Administrator' <-case sensitive.
-in the password field type the password for the administrator (if you don't have one leave blank)
-press ok
2. Start - run - type gpedit.msc
3. Expand the "local computer policy" branch
4. Expand the "administrative templates" branch
5. Expand the "network branch"
6. Highlight the "QoS Packet Scheduler" in left window
7. In right window double click the "limit reservable bandwidth" setting
8. On setting tab check the "enabled" item
9. Where it says "Bandwidth limit %" change it to read 0-- Click apply, OK, exit gpedit.msc
10. Go to your Network connections (start->my computer->my network connection-> view network connections). Right click on your connection, choose properties then under the General or the Networking tab (where it lists your protocols) make sure QoS packet scheduler is enabled.
11. Reboot , now you are all done.

This is more of a "counter what XP does" thing. In other words, XP seems to want to reserve 20% of the bandwidth for itself even with QoS disabled. So why not use it to your advantage. To demonstrate the problem, start up a big download from a server with an FTP client. Try to find a server that doesn't max out your bandwidth. In this case you want a slow to medium speed server to demonstrate this. Let it run for a couple of minutes to get stable. The start up another download from the same server with another instance of your FTP client. You will notice that the available bandwidth is now being fought over and one of the clients download will be very slow or both will slow down when they should both be using the available bandwidth. Using this "tweak" both clients will have a fair share of the bandwidth and will not fight over the bandwidth.

Ich packs echt nicht mehr. Ihr tuts euch sowas an? Was muss man alles machen, um aus Windows XP ein "brauchbares" OS zu machen (immer relativ).

auch wenn ich seit ich ICQ und Winamp skins hab, gern eine "schöneres" windows hätte, kann mir XP gestolen bleiben.. was bringen mir styles, wenn das OS dafür den Comp "zerstört"??

Bei mir funkt des tadellos, wieso sollts auch nicht ?
(schau, ob auch wirklich der QoS Packet Scheduler aktiviert ist - bei den Netzerkeinstellungen)

alternativ kann man sich auch einfach ein gscheidtes os raufhaun :rolleyes:

Also, a bisserl übertreibts jetzt schon, Burschn ... nur wegen dieser Kleinigkeit kann man ja nicht das ganze XP verurteilen - und das läuft bei mir sicher um einiges stabiler und besser als alle Win-Versionen, die ich davor auf meiner Platte hatte. (Linux verwend ich ja auch und bin auch zufrieden damit, nur fehlt mir da noch etwas Produktreife, Standardisierung/Konsens der Entwickler und Linux-Unterstützung seitens der HW-Hersteller)

Und außerdem sehe ich hier im Forum auch zahlreiche Win 2k-threads

- Also für mich ist das eher Geschmackssache ...

sorry, aber alleine die aktivierung ist für mich grund genug winXP niemals zu verwenden !!!

das ist so ziemlich das allerdümmste, was microsoft jemals gemacht hat.... wenn dann auch noch gleich viel, oder mehr probs sind, wie beim vorgänger OS, dann bitte wozu soll ich auf XP umsteigen? um mich in M$'s Datenbank zu verewigen? sicher nicht ! :rolleyes:

ja ich hab übertrieben, aber wenn ein OS anfängt, Hardware grundlos zu belegen/blockieren etc. dann hört sichd er spass bei mir auf! ich mein wozu braucht XP 20% der bandbreite ???? :mad:

Na, hast schon recht, die Aktivierung geht auf jeden Fall zu weit, wenn man bedenkt, daß ja eigentlich eh nur der ehrliche Win-Käufer das Nachsehen hat, und den Cracker die Aktivierung ohnehin nur ein Lächeln abringt ...

Lol. Na mich hat das WinXP bis jetz nur amüsiert.

Nach dem ersten Start, dachte ich, WinXP spielt mir eine Folge der Teletubbies vor (der Hintergrund und alles so bunt). Die Desktop Styles sind irgendwie grindig.

Und das einzige wirklich gute neue Feature, das schnelle Umschalten zwischen Usern, ist deaktviert, wenn man den Rechner in eine Domäne hängt !!!

Schauts, das OS ist gut( ist ja in wirklichkeit Win2k), aber Microsoft hat es halt versucht, für Dummy User umzukonfigurieren.

Aber wie du sagst, es ist geschmackssache und ich verwend win2k Adv. Server und bin absolut zufrieden.
