There is no question that the Mushkin XP2-9200 are good, solid memory modules, and I would not hesitate to recommend them for Nvidia 680i or Intel 965P based motherboards; however as they were not able to meet PC2-9200 speeds on an Asus P5W DH, I do not think that all users can expect to reach PC2-9200 with these modules.

Mind you, Mushkin is not the only manufacturer having problems meeting the specified speeds and timings of their modules on all motherboards - the excellent Corsair Dominator XMS2-PC8888 and the extremely fast OCZ XLC PC2-9200 also had problems meeting spec on all motherboards, leading me to believe that if you want to invest in very high performance memory modules, you'd better do your homework first, and make sure people have been able to run them at spec on your specific motherboard. In our case we would recommend using a 680i based board, or else one of Asus' P5B series.

To Mushkin's credit, when we mentioned to them that we could not meet spec, they investigated the problem, and with the second set of memory, the memory also met and exceeded specs on the P5B-E.

If I were to guess, I'd suspect that new BIOS revisions may increase the Mushkin XP2-9200's compatibility at full rated speed on other motherboards, and your experiences may be different than mine - however if you want to run at PC2-9200, make sure you have a 680i based motherboard or that you can exchange the memory if it will not run at 9200 on your motherboard.
