The Seagate Barracuda 7200.8, unfortunately, is somewhat disappointing to us. While the drive performs fairly well, only about 5-10% slower compared to our DiamondMax 10, there are no killer features here which elevate the 7200.8 over Seagate’s previous generation drives. The drive still just performs “ok”, and was audible louder during testing compared to the DiamondMax 10. While the drive does boast a terrific five year warranty, it can’t make up for the fact that the drive runs louder, slower, and is more expensive compared to the DiamondMax 10.

Maxtor rates the DiamondMax 10 300GB at 27 dBA idle (compared to 28 dBA of the Seagate). While we could tell no difference between idle noise levels (both basically inaudible to our ears), seek and write levels were much better for the Maxtor. I doubt that most, even the most noise-sensitive users, would be able to hear the DiamondMax 10 in a closed case environment.

Also das mit Idle kann ich bestätigen, das mit den Read/Write Operationen und unhörbar leise nicht. Zumindest bei meiner DM10 hört man ganz deutlich wenn zugegriffen wird ...
Wenn die 7200.8 da schlimmer sein sollte, omg
