Hallo Leute!

Machts meiner treuen IBM DTLA-307030 etwas aus,
wenn man sie "verkehrt herum" montiert?
Also quasi auf den Kopf stellt.

Bei versch. Platten darf man es - bei manchen nicht.
Wie schauts da mit der IBM aus?

Puhh keine Ahnung!
Hab es auch nur gehört, hatte bisher noch nie
das Bedürfnis meine Platte verkehrt herum
zu montieren!

naja ich hab immer die legenden ( bei den alten platten ) gehört das die platten eingehen.... hab dann in der firma mal einen alten vectra kübel aufgmacht und da war eine ältere ( 2gb ) ibm drinnen die war von werk aus schon verkehrt rum eingebaut.
das ding rennt seit 4 jahren durch und die platte hat sich net beschwert-

Hatte auch schon mal ein damals schon 2 Jahre alter PC
geöffnet, wo wohl ein DAU die Platte verkehrtherum montiert hatte... - lief auch.

Nur najo bei meiner treuen IBM will ich das nicht "versuchen",
deshalb .... hat jemand damit schon Erfahrungen gesammelt?

öhm, alle vectras hatten die platten so drinnen, die einbauschiene hat auch nix anderes vorgesehen als den verkehrten einbau

desktop bürorechner von hewlett packard, ekelkisten mit p1 166 64 mb edo und 2 gig.....

Da war glaube ich vor kurzem schon mal so ein Thread.

Soweit ich mich erinnern kann kam da raus das alles was irgendwie 90 Grad ist ok sein soll.

Da wäre dann auf dem Kopf stehend natürlich auch dabei, sofern du mit auf dem Kopf mit der Elektronik oben meinst.

Von der Funktionsweise her kann ich leider nicht sagen was für einen Einfluß die Schwerkraft hat.

Hast du schon mal aif der IBM-HP nachgeschaut? Da haben sie meistens dicke Anleitungen zum DL.

9.5.4 Drive mounting
The drive will operate in all axes (6 directions). Performance and error rate will stay within specification
limits if the drive is operated in the other orientations from which it was formatted.
For reliable operation it is recommended that the drive be mounted by using appropriate length side or
bottom mounting screws with 6-32 UNC thread count or equivalent mounting hardware. Proper mounting
is essential to prevent the drive from excessive motion or vibration during seek operation or spindle
rotation.
Consult with your IBM Corporation distribution representative if your mounting application may possibly
be considered out of compliance with this specification.
When performing any drive level vibration and shock test, mount the drive to the table using the bottom
four screws.
Do not cover the breather hole—illustrated in Figure 50 on page 51—to keep air pressure inside of the
disk enclosure equal to the atmospheric pressure outside of the drive enclosure.
