Review @ VR-ZoneTime spent on burning labels is not a major issue in most cases since, as mentioned earlier, one can burn labels in the background. The label quality is also acceptable for the time taken, though there is certainly room for improvement and further expansion to this technology. The only current major problem with LightScribe is, in my opinion, the decidedly troublesome software setup procedures and compatibility issues to overcome in order to get LightScribe up and running
The major factor here is thus the cost. Fortunately, the only (semi-)permanent investment in LightScribe is the burner. Once you have a LightScribe burner, LightScribe is essentially on a pay-per-use basis. One can switch to using a standard DVD for things that he decides are not worth the additional cost of a LightScribe disc; Basically one can use LightScribe as often or as rarely as he/she likes.
LightScribe aside, the ASUS DRW-1612BL is no slouch in terms of reading and writing performance. If you are all set to spend the extra money and use LightScribe, this is a drive you want to take into consideration.
