LOS ANGELES--According to the blog of developer Jurie Horneman, Take-Two Interactive has closed its Rockstar Vienna studio, leaving more than 100 employees without a job.

"This morning, as I came into work, I was greeted by security guards," Horneman wrote in a post today. "It turned out Take-Two has closed their Rockstar Vienna office, effective immediately, 'due to the challenging environment facing the video game business and our Company during this platform transition.'"

The Rockstar Vienna studio dates back to 1983. Formerly known as neo Software Produktions, it changed its name when it became a Rockstar studio in 1993. Its catalog of games includes the Xbox versions of Max Payne, Grand Theft Auto 3, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and the PlayStation 2 and Xbox versions of Max Payne 2.

Take-Two and Rockstar representatives did not immediately return requests for comment.
