In the end I found both units very usable in everyday usage and I would prefer the Vantec's design over any other design I have seen to date but the cooling performance is just unbearable. I really do not like my hard drive to be running at 40C Load. The wow factor on the LCD model is just amazing, I love how the LCD reads out the HD's temp and also shows if there is activity on the hard drive or if it's idle. Due to the cooling issue I could not have given either unit a score higher than 7.5 but the 102FD definitely deserves a higher score with it's active LCD monitoring probe.
