Ich hab ein paar Fragen zu p4 (hab auf englischer Site gepostet also sorry für Englisch)

1) I decided to go for DDR as i need at least 1 Gig of Ram and PC4200 or 1066 would be too expensive.
I was told that the Abit IT7 MAX (190 EURO) was the Best. The Successor, MAX2 costs 230 EURO, so i wanted to know if the price difference is worth it. I`m interested in performance and overclocking ability and not in all the extras.

2) Which RAM should i get ? I`d like to overclock the 2,53GHz on one of the above mentioned Mainboard to aroung 3 GHz. As i need 1 Gig, i don`t want to send more than necessary. Here are some prices:
-- "Samsung DIMM 512MB PC2700 DDR CL2.5 (PC333)":170 EURO
-- "Corsair DIMM 512MB PC3200 DDR CL2.5-3-3 (PC400)": 265 EURO
-- No-Name DIMM 512MB PC2700 DDR CL2.5 (PC333) : 142 EURO

3) does a P4 need to be unlocked ? What is the best way to overcock it, via FSB or Multi ?

4) Which stepping shoud i get ?

unlocken kann man einen p4 nicht! kannst nur per multi übertakten!

das max 2 hat wieder serielle und ps/2 anchlüsse, wenn ich mich nicht täusche!
das bd7 II wär vielleicht interessant wenn du die ganzen extras des it7 nicht brauchst!

am besten zum übertakten werden die corsair gehen!
samsung sind ok, no-name nim auf keinen fall!

Interessant, auf overclockers.co.uk schreibt einer :

"P4's are not unlocked - You just up the FSB and voltage until it will go no firther or it gets too hot to run in which case you either need better cooling or you need to take your overclock down slightly!"

Was jetzt, per Multi oder FSB ?

alles klar d.h. der 2,5 (400) hat einen Höhren Multi als der 2,53 (533)
Welcher lässt sich besser overclocken ? der 2,5 hat ja mit sicherheit C1 stepping !

mehr mhz schaffst du vielleicht (nicht sicher) mit dem 2,5er - die bessere endgültige leistung hat sicher der 2,53.
