DualDDR Support
In an earlier revision of this review, I reported that ABIT's manual recommends that the DDR DIMM slots be filled in the order of DIMM3 to DIMM1. However, the information printed in that manual is wrong! Here's why.
NVIDIA's DualDDR technology relies on two separate memory controllers to double its memory bandwidth. There is a twist though. The first memory controller only controls the first DIMM slot while the second memory controller handles the last two DIMM slot. To enable DualDDR, you must use up two DIMM slots and one of them must be DIMM1. If you insert the two DIMMs in DIMM2 and DIMM3, you will be using only one of the nForce2's two memory controllers. That's why ABIT is wrong in recommending that the DIMM slots be populated in the reverse order of DIMM3 to DIMM1.
Now, it should be noted that it is not necessary for you to follow any particular order. I tried the following DIMM configurations - (DIMM1+DIMM2), (DIMM1+DIMM3), just DIMM1 and just DIMM2. They all worked fine so there shouldn't be a problem if you do not follow the recommended order. However, if you are using two DIMMs, make sure you insert one of them into DIMM1. The other can be in DIMM2 or DIMM3. Either way, DualDDR support will be enabled.
With that said, it's important to note that DualDDR isn't all it's made out to be. True, when enabled, it allows you to double the nForce2's memory bandwidth. However, due to the limitations of the AMD S2K bus, the processor won't be able to make use of that extra bandwidth. So, don't expect to see much benefit from DualDDR, unless you are using the onboard GeForce4 MX GPU of the nForce2 IGP north bridge (not used in the NF7-S). That's probably the only application that truly benefits from NVIDIA's DualDDR technology.

Ich hatte 2*512 Corsair 3500er laufen.
1 GB hat sich ned auszahlt und deswegen reichen mir auch 512 single Channel.
Ich seh im Dual Channel keinerlei vorteile ....

daweil noch nicht wirklich es geht aber drum das 400 fsb dual supported wird laut abit ... blabla nicht 100 % meins will ned mal ( das 3te ) auf 185 stable ....
single .... mit 1,7 vdd und 210 fsb is ein beschiss !
normal müsste es das ohne vdd zugabe machen ! im single betrieb
zum glück geb ich den dreck morgen zurück und krieg ein apogee das ich testen werde
Es geht auch mit Standard.

naja bei wieviel bist ? ich mein im single betrieb dürften 230 aufwärts kein prob sein ....
Pass auf ich kauf ma morgen eine neue CPU dann geh ich mim FSB rauf.
Nur ich seh keinen Sinn drinn weiter rauf zu gehn wenn die CPU ab 2315 nimma mitmacht ! FSB Power schön und gut aber ohne die Mhz..zahlt sichs ned aus !

da wird dann sein board testet und meins auch gleich - vielleicht bringts mich ja weiter
