The 975X7AB is a very well-rounded board and definitely a board worth looking into. The board utilizes the top Intel chipset and has many extra features that would complete anyone’s system needs. The external SATA port will be a godsend once external SATA enclosures start to take off. The sound is great as the Realtek chipset pushed my 5.1 close to their limits. One thing that I really like is the 8 phase power connector. This allows for stable power to the different components of the board.

And for the extreme gamer, the support for Crossfire is a feature that you definitely will like. There is no feeling better than being able to Crossfire two X1900s and giving a game all that it can handle.

[...]Now for the real killer….overclocking. This board was a real let down in this area. Topping out at only 345MHz would not give us the boost in numbers as we have seen in other boards available today. Even with the board having a really (superficially) overclocking friendly BIOS it doesn’t take advantage of it. That lack of CPU voltage and CPU multipliers is what truly hurts this board.

In parting I would like to state that with a few BIOS modifications on Foxconn’s part this board could be a great board. And awarding the board with an Approved medal because in stock form it outperformed a very popular motherboard.

it's been an honor.
