Macbook or not to Macbook

This seems like an obvious answer but im torn. I can afford to buy the new macbook pro 14 base model but not sure if i should. I mostly use computers to browse reddit youtube and the different streaming services( with occasional use of Microsoft office) right now my only computer is from my work and i want to get away from using it as its just VidMate Mobdro concerning having them see everything i do on it. i guess im wondering should i just get the ipad 12.9 inch? i know its better suited for content consumption but when i do the math I can get the ipad keyboard and pencil and still come out saving more money. i guess im mostly worried that ill be missing the laptop experience if i commit to getting it. sorry i wrote a novel but let me know what you guys think
