Roundup @ HARDiNFOWhen you look at pure performance - the winners of this round-up would be ASUS and Zotac. We firmly believe that performance is not the only thing that matters and we build our recommendations upon an overall evaluation of the cards.
Starting with the reference design, Zotach has proved that you do not necesarily need powerful cooling soluions to keep a card quiet and steady even at overclocked specs. This means that none of the cards we have tested have gained extra performance from thinking outside the box regarding their cooling solutions. Furthermore, the chosen solutions from the other manufacturers have moved the card from a single-slot SFF friendly design to a dual-slot, not so SFF friendly design. Zotac is showing that from a performance and SFF point of view, sticking with the reference design makes sense.
[...]The ASUS EN9600GT Top is in our opinion a clear cut winner of this round-up. When you look at the price of around 250$ and an ok bundle with all the cables needed, add to that an improved cooling solution and the best performance of the test, you will have no doubt.
The Gainward Bliss GeForce 9600GT Golden Sample and the XFX GeForce 9600GT Alpha dog Edition are both awarded the HARDiNFO Recommended Award. Gainward is stepping up by offering HDMI, Display Port and DVI-I in the bracket itself and an excellent performance. The XFX GeForce 9600GT Offers comparable performance at a lower price compared to Gainward.
