Review @ Elite BastardsIf I could get away with writing a one word conclusion for Galaxy's GeForce 7600 GS GDDR 3, that word would most likely be 'wow'. We're all used to seeing 'OC' parts from the NVIDIA camp these days, with clock speed boosts of 10 or 20MHz here and there, but this part is in a different league altogether. To put it simply, this board is a GeForce 7600 GS in name only - Practically speaking, it has far more in common with the 7600 GT, from its identical memory clock to its almost identical core clock (which can be overclocked to GT speed and beyond easily).
It doesn't stop there either - Galaxy have done away with the slightly irritating and inefficient reference GeForce 7600 cooler, and replaced it with a far superior Zalman offering that is both quieter and more efficient. Then they've added a second BIOS chip and a simple method for switching between them - Not essential for most, but a nice touch to differentiate the product. To think that all of this is available at a GeForce 7600 GS price point is almost insane, but that's exactly what you're getting, and in all honesty I can't think of a single negative point with this board to counteract all the positivity flowing from my keyboard as I type this. Where I come from, that means I've just tested a great product, so kudos to Galaxy for creating what is tantamount to mid-range graphics genius. If you're after a graphics board in this kind of price range, and live in a territory that sells Galaxy parts (which, distressingly, doesn't include the UK or the US as I write this), then you really should check this board out. You really won't regret it.
