Apache 1.3 configuration (php als index file, kein 404)

Da jetzt der apache 1.3.29 mal läuft hab ich nur noch 2 probleme:

1. er soll index.php auch als ne index seite erkennen. in der config steht:

DirectoryIndex index.html index.htm index.php index.php4 index.php3 index.cgi index.pl index.html.var index.phtml

das.

Dennoch werden php files ned als index pages erkannt.

allerdings stand ursprünglich das drin:

#<IfModule mod_dir.c>
# DirectoryIndex index.html index.php index.php4 index.phtml
#</IfModule>

ich habs aber auskommentiert. stand in der apache 2 config auch so drin.

naja. problem 2: wenn keine index page drin steht refreshed er X mal bis er es aufgibt und ne weisse seite anzeigt.
